You’ve heard about them on the news. Every day there are new ones. They are called product recalls.
The lawyers here at Theodoros & Rooth want to remind you that it is a good idea to stay informed about the latest recalls. Many of them you never hear about on the news. The more serious ones are usually publicized.
Rock ‘N Play Sleeper
Just last week doctors called for a recall of a popular Fisher-Price product that is linked to the deaths of over 30 babies.
Less than a week after Fisher-Pric issued a warning about the Rock ‘N Play Sleeper, citing the reports of 10 infant deaths, doctors say the sleeper should be recalled altogether.
A Consumer Reports investigation tied the Rock ‘N Play Sleeper, which is marketed to parents as a sleeper that allows infants to sleep on an incline, to at least 32 infant deaths. Tuesday, the American Academy of Pediatrics called on the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall the sleeper immediately.
The More Precautionary Recalls
Most recalls, in fact, are more precautionary and made by responsible companies that just want to be sure when they suspect an issue in a product’s ingredients or manufacturing. There are actually many recalls every day. In almost every case, the product will be replaced or the cost refunded by the consumer.
Recent recalls include the 2019 Land Rover Discovery for an issue with the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt that could cause a crash.
Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall of Stacy’s Simply Naked Pita chips after discovering they may contain milk ingredients without declaring that information.
A recall of ibuprofen for infants has been expanded over concerns that affected medications could contain dangerously high concentrations of the drug.
General Mills recently announced a voluntary recall of five-pound packages of Gold Medal flour over salmonella concerns.
Even our pets are sometimes affected. A few weeks back Hill’s Pet Nutrition was voluntarily recalling select canned dog food products due to potentially elevated levels of vitamin D that can cause health issues in our furry friends.
